Our History

The Aon Botswana Era (Pre-2021)

In December 2020, Minet Group and Africa Lighthouse Capital jointly acquired Aon’s shareholding in Aon Botswana. After receiving regulatory approva, the business was rebranded as Minet Botswana in June 2021, with the official launch of its new corporate identity taking place in September of the same year.

The Transition (2020–2021)

In December 2020, Minet Group and Africa Lighthouse Capital acquired Aon's shareholding in Aon Holdings Botswana. Following regulatory approval, the entity was rebranded as Minet Botswana in June 2021, with the official corporate identity launch in September 2021.

Today, Minet Botswana Pty Ltd operates as a subsidiary of the Minet Botswana Group, alongside its sister companies - Minet Botswana Retirement Solutions (MBRS) and Minet Botswana Risk Management & Consulting (MBRMC). Together, they reinforce local ownership, deepen regional expertise, and drive sustainable growth across the market.

Recent Developments (2022–Present)

In 2022, Minet Botswana expanded its service offering with the launch of a dedicated Life Division, providing financial planning services and products such as life cover, funeral plans, and group life assurance for both individuals and businesses. The company also strengthened its agricultural insurance solutions, supporting farmers in managing risks associated with unpredictable weather patterns, pests, and other challenges - further demonstrating Minet Botswana’s commitment to protecting livelihoods and securing the nation’s future.
